4 Effective Ways to Prevent Laptop Battery Failure

Learn about the 4 Effective Ways to Prevent Laptop Battery Failure. There are many causes of the battery to fail to charge and this article provides important information in preventing possible failure of the laptop battery. Always keep in mind that it is hard to find the exact battery model for our certain laptop device so we really need to take care of it properly.

The battery is one of the most important parts of a laptop computer that should not be failed. There are many uses of laptop computers such working with important documents and surfing the Internet while on travel. However, the battery is the soul of the laptop computer to make it work properly while traveling. This is also a very sensitive part of the laptop especially to heat. As a computer user, we have to take good care of our laptop by knowing how to prevent laptop battery failure.

Although batteries of laptops are replaceable, these are not just like triple type batteries which only cost less. Laptop batteries cost 50 to 100 dollars depending on the brand and model of the laptop. Taking care of the laptop battery is like saving 50 to 100 dollars from our budget. The common causes of laptop battery failure are mostly associated with the malpractice of using the computer. In fact, the following information is just simple but the most effective ways to prevent laptop battery failure. We don't actually need to purchase a new battery if we can extend its life and make it more efficient. These are the best prevention methods to follow for us to prevent possible failure of our laptop's battery.

Remove Battery when it is Fully Charged

Many laptop computer users don't bother to remove the battery while using it even if the battery is already fully charged. In addition, they even not remove the battery to use it as an Uninterruptible Power Supply or UPS which is not a good idea at all. Normally when the battery is fully charged and the charger is still plugged into the computer it can cause laptop battery failure in the future. This is because the excess current for powering the laptop causes over charging to the battery. Basically, it is very important to remove the battery from the laptop when using the charger as the power supply. It is only necessary to use the laptop battery while on travel or no available power socket in the area. This is one of the best ways to prevent laptop battery failure in the future.

Avoid Using the Laptop in Hot Environment

Any kinds of batteries are easily discharged when heated or put into hot environment. In this case, it is necessary to avoid using the laptop computer in hot or warm environment especially in the area where the sunlight is directly hitting the device. As much as possible, use the device on a cool or air conditioned place to maintain its good temperature and prevent laptop battery failure.

Always Use Laptop Cooling Fan

We usually forget to use laptop cooling fan when we are working with our documents or applications for long hours. A laptop computer is not like a desktop computer which is more resistant to heat since laptop has smaller electronic parts which are sensitive top heat. There are many available laptop cooling fans available in most computer stores at very cheap prices. In addition, using cooling fan doesn't only prevent laptop battery failure, it also effectively maintain the computer's durability and lifespan.

Avoid Frequent Charging of the Battery

Most of the time computer users are not aware that frequent charging of the laptop battery could cause laptop battery failure in the future. For instance the battery has 70% capacity it is not advisable to charge it as it alters the normal charging and discharging of the battery. There is a small embedded memory or electronic parts within the battery that determines its capacity. In this case, it is very important to consider the "full charge" and "full discharge" of the battery meaning that we need to fully drain the laptop battery before it is charged. This is another good way to prevent laptop battery failure.

Those are the above mentioned effective ways to prevent laptop battery failure. The most important thing that we need to consider in taking good care of our laptop battery is to prevent possible heat and follow the above mentioned information properly. We also have to be responsible in using our personal computer to avoid extra budget on spending addition battery, charger, and other accessories.

Useful information for laptop users.

I agree with almost everything that you said in this article, Mark, with the exception of suggesting that a laptop user remove the battery to avoid overcharging the battery when using the charger as a power source. With older laptops and notebooks, that was a concern but all state of the art laptops and notebooks have built-in circuitry that prevents the overcharging of the battery. On the contrary, there is a very good reason to leave the battery in at all times. The batter acts as an UPS for a laptop or notebook computer. Should the AC power fail for some reason, having the battery in the laptop or notebook computer will keep it from crashing.

Very informative...Thanks Mark
